Visiting London on a limited budget

Visiting London on a limited budget

Always wanted to visit London, but currently not so much budget for a city trip? In my list of articles on holiday’s on a limited budget, after Rome and Dublin, today I go to Visit London. Travelling with you?

Life is expensive enough as it is

Everything has become more expensive, daily groceries, energy costs, gasoline. Yet we also want to be able to get away, a day out or a city trip. But what if you don’t have that much to spend?

Can you get away then? Definitely. How about visiting London on a limited budget?

What if I want to visit London with less money

Since I myself have always seen traveling on a limited budget as a challenge and this was also necessary in my early days of going on city trips as a student, I have now written several blogs about this. This time I show how to visit London even if you have less money.

How to get to London cheaply

How are you going to visit London. Of course at first you probably think of the plane. With today’s fare hikes, this might be just fine too, but the problems currently in air travel can also definitely stop you from flying.

The train might be a better alternative, although it is often more expensive at the moment. If you want to book be flexible in terms of days and time of departure and arrival, in this you can save well in your budget. There are days and times that are less popular, does this not matter to you, then you can already save with this.

Where to stay

Of course you can opt for a hotel when visiting London, but then you will be forced to take care of breakfast, lunch and dinner every day as well. If you choose a hostel, you’ll spend less on accommodation and you can often prepare your own food and drinks. Even easier is renting a house or apartment through Airbnb, for example.

You can then easily take care of your own food. Do you prefer the luxury of a hotel, which is understandable, look at the breakfast, is it affordable or is it better to find a bakery in the neighborhood??

Is this a city to discover on foot?

Visiting London is walking. In London you should have sore feet at the end of the day from all the walking. Make them tired, because you know you see the most of a city while walking?

So hop hop walking shoes on and walk, right through London’s neighborhoods! You see a lot and it saves money on public transport.

While walking you will see an awful lot, be sure to visit:

  • Tower Bridge
  • Big Ben
  • Notting Hill
  • St. St. Paul’s Cathedral
  • Hyde Park
  • Oxford street
  • Covent Garden Market

Do I have to pay to visit a museum in London

In many countries, museums are free to visit or have a special day that you can visit for free or cheaper. In London there are also a number of museums for free. Make a list in advance at home of what you want to see and whether they are free to visit.

London is known for its parks and markets visits

If you are in London then surely you must visit one of its many famous parks. Think Hyde Park, Regent’s Park and Holland Park. You can walk around here, sit quietly and enjoy the peace and quiet or rest after a long walk. Visit one of the many markets in London.

Walk around all the stalls, taste some and find your best vintage items.

London is the place for me

London is a fantastic city to visit and maybe things are a bit more difficult these days because of Brexit, Corona and the situation at the airports, don’t let that stop you and go enjoy a weekend shopping in the London boroughs, go for a walk through the many beautiful parks and go shopping at the market. London is the ideal city break, even on a limited budget!
