The height of civility

The height of civility

Following the example of a dear friend, I could not stay behind. After being away from home for more than eight years I really had to go. And I didn’t even do it under duress, no even completely by choice.

Completely of my own volition and purely to make myself happy I purchased the epitome of bourgeoisness.

Flapping ears

I am still a little upset about it. Last Sunday, packed and ready to go, we drove the whole family to the well-known orange construction market. That toko that’s open every Sunday, where I saw Dennis Storm buy a plant, where it’s still busy even at 4:30 ’afternoon. That hardware store where you can buy everything for in and around the house.

Exactly, yes. After a tour of the store, a hefty queue at the checkout and a packed car, we drove to my in-laws to pick something up. Even my mother-in-law’s ears perked up when I told her what I bought.

For a moment she looked in the car and only then did she believe I really bought it.

The height of civility

Well Bianca, come on, what’s the height of civility for you?? Shall I say it? I’m almost ashamed of it, that’s how bourgeois it is. So all these years I have always put my laundry in the dryer or hung it scattered throughout the house. Which is not at all convenient and also very unsociable.

Last Sunday it finally came to an end. I bought a…. drum roll.. clothesline! Holy moly, what a bourgeois purchase!

I really felt like a huge civilian bitch but oh how happy I am with that thing.

Lovely fresh sheets

What could be better than a clean bed with sheets dried in the fresh air? (Okay, let’s forget about that glass of cold rosé on that hot day for a moment. Or rather any day.) Exactly, so I’ve been walking all week in clothes that have been dried in the open air. I love it so much.

Why have I never done that before? For years I have had the space for a rotary dryer. Yes, I think this just might be the purchase of 2016.

Thanks N., for this brilliant idea! You were the inspiration for my most bourgeois purchase ever.

What is your most bourgeois purchase ever?
