What is a beanie
What exactly is a beanie? It is a beanie after all? But why is it called something else?
A beanie is a nice warm hat that keeps your head and ears warm on cold days. Now you have hats and you have beanies. The big difference is actually that a beanie is a bit longer and narrower. so the back of the beanie always hangs a little and is not completely on your head, like a hat. Wear the beanie up to your hairline just like you would with a normal hat.
Let the back dangle nice and loose and voila: you’ve got the trend look of a beanie to hand.I think a beanie fits my Bohemian lifestyle very nicely. I like to wear hats and when it is cold now I alternate them with a beanie.
How to crochet a beanie
Recently I crocheted a couple of beanies for the boys and had wool left over. I searched online for a pattern of a beanie and found this one at RosieCrochetdays. This website seems to be closed, the lady who made the beanie doesn’t respond to anything and she hasn’t posted anything after 2017 either.
I can’t find her on Social Media either. Because I read that people still had questions about the beanie and I adapted the pattern, since with her pattern the beanie became much too big, I have written out the pattern and I am posting it here.
Easy and fast
This beanie is very quick and easy to crochet and is also suitable for beginners.

Crochet the two sides together and crochet a border of fasts on top. Watch carefully and count that you crochet a solid stitch in all the turn rows.
Crochet the two sides together Crochet a border of fasts on the edge
You now have 66 stitches start with the first V-stitch. * 2 chop together-2 loose- 2 chop together-* skip 2 stitches. Continue with this throughout the first row.
Start with the first row of V-stiches
When you get back to the first V-stitch crochet a half single in the first between single and start here with * 2 double crochet-2 single crochet-2 double crochet* and so on
Crochet 15 rows and fasten the top edge. You do this by placing your crochet pieces together and securing with a half fastener. Turn your beanie and place the halves on top of each other and fasten with a half stop.
It is hard to explain but super easy. For clear instructions on how to attach the top of the beanie see this video:
